Radeon HD 4870 X2 Video Card Information
As any PC enthusiast will be well aware, the new ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 video card has been released to a plethora of rave reviews all praising it's phenominal performance in most games. However, this does come at a bit of a price and people should be made aware of these prices if they are considering purchasing this behemoth.
Firstly, the card is power hungry. AMD/ATI list a minimum of a 650 watt PSU to power this beast. I would recommend reading my Power Supply guide if you haven't already with regards to power requirements. This card is the most demanding in terms of power requirements by some margin. The performance of this monster needs to come from somewhere after all.
The second is one that may not be so obvious. Most people are using 32-bit Operating Systems, such as Windows XP Home or Professional

Watching Region Coded 1 Blu Ray Discs on UK playersThe
Region Coded 1 Blu Ray Discs in the US are 40-70% cheaper than in the UK that's
one reason why there's region coding. Having a region coded 2 UK

however a great number of Region 1 Coded Blu Rays can be played on UK
Players. Some of them have never been relased in the UK! I came across
a decent list that shows which US titles can be played on your UK
player so I thought I should share this information with other people. As
outside links are not permitted by ebay I cannot put here a direct
link, though,if you type the 3 following words onto your favorite search
engine it can be found easily. These words are DVD WORLD USA ,if you are feeling lucky, then you will be.

LASER PRINTER AND INKJET PRINTER - PAPER FEED PROBLEMS
If you experience paper mis-feeds the first thing to check on is the paper itself. If the paper has been in the inkjet printer for a considerable time without using the printer, I would suggest that you replace the paper. If you have recently bought cheap paper on special offer and the printer misfeeds again it could be the paper, not all 80gsm paper is the same. If it does misfeed

What to do when you get an undeserved Neg.
Let's say that a newcommer to eBay sees your auction and with just a couple of minutes to go bids an extremely high sum and then "wins" the auction. After winning they then take the trouble to read the description and find out that they have bid on an item they don't want.
Now don't forget that before confirming their bid

Microsoft Vista---Increase the speed
As a computer technician we receive a lot of calls from customers
regarding the slow speeds of Microsoft Vista. Its amazing how many
people are so excited about getting a new computer with vista
installed, and within a week are fed up with it, due to the slow
speeds. A lot of people revert back to Windows XP, but Vista does have
many advantages with advanced security measures to help reduce the
amount of spyware/malware installing on your computer. There are
many ways to increase the running speed of Windows Vista, including a
memory upgrade, i always recommend 2Gb of RAM, this helps Vista run at
faster speeds. 512mb is simply not enough memory to successfully run
Vista. However, if you have just purchased a brand new computer, the
last thing you will be wanting to do is spending more on upgrades.OK
you want to increase the speed of Vista, thats fine, its easy to
increase the speed of vista but it will have knock on effects. In Vista
there is a program called UAC, (User Account Control), this is the main
security advantage with Vista, it protects your computer, from
spyware/malware from self installing, it don't stop all bugs but a large
majority. You can turn this program off, which will speed up Vista
dramatically, however, you would lose the security aspect of Vista, so
your computer would be more prone to threats like Windows XP. I
always suggest if you are going to switch the UAC off, then use some
sort of protection, there are several programs to protect computers
such as Nortons and Macafee. But why pay for your protection when you
can get it free, I always recommend two programs AVG for antivirus
protection and SupertAntiSpyware Remover, which are both free and easy
to download from the Internet. If you update and run these on a regular
basis then you will be fine, you will have a faster system and
protection at the same time. To turn off the UAC, go to your
control panel, user account and click turn UAC on or off. Remember to
restart your computer. There are many other ways of speeding up Vista,
but this is one of the most effective, as well as removing unused
programs from your startup menu.

How to Look After and Maximise your Laptop Battery
Getting the most out of your Laptop Battery
All Laptop batteries have a limited life span, every time you charge and discharge your battery; it loses a little bit of capacity. This is because batteries naturally lose charge on their own and heat makes them loose it faster, as charging produces heat, every charge shrinks a little bit of capacity.
Even when not in use, for example, a Li-ion typically loses about 15% per month but Ni-MH is about 50% per month depending on temperature.
Depending on how you use and look after your laptop battery, you can make it last as long as possible, saving on replacement or repair costs. Following a few common sense tips can also make your laptop battery last longer on the go and avoid running out at inconvenient times.
Estimated life span:
Lithium Ion (LiON) and Nickel Metal hydride (NiMH), have about 400-600 charge/discharge cycles over 2-3 years.
Nikel Cadmium (NiCD) have 700 charge/discharge cycles.
What type of battery do you have?
You can find this info on the battery itself or in your laptop manual.
Storage:
Do not expose to extreme heat, never leave it in direct sunlight or forget about your laptop in the boot of your car on a hot day. Heat is what shortens battery life.
Do not expose your battery to extreme cold, freezing a battery will damage it.
Do not expose to moisture or water.
Do not drop or throw battery.
Manufacturers store laptop Batteries at about 60F or 15C, if you don't use your laptop battery, store Li-Ion, NI-MH and Ni-CD batteries at about 40% charge in a cool place like a not-too-cold fridge, but store SLA batteries at full charge. (Make sure you seal it in a moisture proof zip-lock type bag first)
Daily use:
If you plug in your laptop all the time, like in your place or work, it is important to take out the battery, as keeping it in the laptop while connected to the AC constantly charges and discharges your battery, this will shorten battery life and eventually reduce your battery capacity to useless.
Optimal Charge points, Lithium Ion Batteries are best recharged at 15% capacity, while Ni-MH batteries work better if charged after full discharge.
Keep your laptop as cool as possible, avoid using it on surfaces that block airvents, the hotter your laptop, the more heat generated that can shorten battery life.
If you have accidently allowed your battery to get too hot or cold, for example, leaving it in the car on a really hot day or leaving it the car overnight in very cold weather, please allow your battery to slowing return to room temperature before using it.
Tip: Never used a damaged or broken battery, this may cause bigger and more expensive damage to your laptop.
Conditioning or Priming a new battery.
If you have not used your laptop for a long time or if you buy a new laptop, you have to prime your battery by allowing it to discharge fully and recharge 3 times. This gives your battery maximum capacity, your laptop manual should have instructions on preparing your battery for first use.
Reviving a dead battery:
If your battery is from an old laptop and is no longer available from the manufacturer, you may wish to send it for re-conditioning. There are shops that will replace or re-condition the cells in your battery. If you know what you are doing and are competent with a soldering iron, you can even buy replacement cells and repair the battery yourself. Otherwise, never open or even puncture your battery as there are toxic liquids inside.
Maximizing Battery life on the go:
Use power management on your laptop to minimize power consumption e.g. Lower LCD brightness to the minimum comfortabble level, Shut down Wi-Fi if you are offline, turn off and power down on everything else you don't need. Most current laptops come with a customised Power Management tool, simply select Maximum Battery life as shown below for an Acer laptop. If your laptop does not have this, you can manage Windows Power Management by clicking on Start
